Poetry

Choices
Two hearts
One gold
One diamond
Equally precious
And I’m supposed to choose?
They are good
Right?
One dark and mysterious
If I go with him I’m sure to be lost
Separated from everything I know and love
All for a future that is murky at best and miserable at its worst
But he’s exciting and forbidden
He speaks poetry and strength
I’ve reveled too much to him to fully pull away
He is shadow
He is trouble
He is challenging and clever
He’s the spider and I’m a fly
But a gentle spider when I’m held by him
Kind words and gentle hands
Take me to a world I’ve never known
He’s made me cry
He’s made me laugh
It could never be
One of pure light and music
He awakens my mind and kindness
Grand gestures and warm summer days
Twining my soul with notes and songs
He can save me
He’s made me smile
He wipes away my tears
He is judgmental
But he loves
He’s stubborn and pigheaded
He drives me mad
Wizened with years not yet lived
Yet he has no plan
A true artist
His world revolves around me
And his music
With him there is
some kind of future
What if Juliet loved both Romeo and Paris?
Could she have learned to love the man her parents chose?
Or would the pull of the man she could never have always pull her astray?
Would she do it over?
Any regrets?
Or worries?
Still the choice
